Ebook Distribution Terms & Conditions
You will be accepting the following Terms and Conditions when you publish an eBook with Distribution to retail channels. Once you agree to begin distribution through Primedia E-launch LLC, this agreement is binding.
You
- certify that you are the rights-holder or authorized agent of the rights holder, holding full authority to convert and distribute all submitted works.
- allow those channels which have in-store viewing to download a preview of your eBook without purchasing, so that customers may preview your eBook. In most cases, no more than 20% of the book or the first chapter may be downloaded at any one time, depending on the length of your book.
- allow those retailers that have devices which allow lending of eBooks to enable that function. Lending is for a limited time period (generally no more than 30 days) and only one device will have the eBook enabled
- are responsible for pricing your eBook. We recommend that you become familiar with the guidelines for pricing for greatest sale impact. Some retail channels may have specific pricing requirements.
- grant Primedia E-launch the right to distribute your title to the following sales channels –Amazon.com, Kobobooks.com, Barnes & Noble.com, the iBookstore, Google Play, Smashwords, Sony (via Smashwords), Diesel (via Smashwords), Baker & Taylor (via Smashwords), Page Foundry (via Smashwords), Library Direct (via Smashwords) and Primedia E-launch.com.
- grant Primedia E-launch the right to distribute your title to additional eBook retailers in the future to increase an eBook’s digital “shelf space”. Authors will be notified in advance of such a change so that he/she can opt-out of the new sales channel if he/she so chooses.
- must opt-out of channels where you do not want to sell your eBook.
Primedia E-launch LLC
- will function as an agent providing distribution services
- will not proofread or review the content your eBook prior to conversion/distribution. Sole responsibility for the content of the eBook rests with you.
- will review your submission to ensure it meets the technical quality controls required by our distribution partners.
- may make small formatting or metadata changes in order to push your book through the distribution channel (for example we match capitalization of title and subtitle, format border around cover, or complete metadata so that it matches your title)
- does not guarantee acceptance of your title by any of the distribution channels you have chosen. Distribution channels may choose not to list or reject any of the submitted listings due to their own content policies.
- will hold monthly royalties in trust for the entire period between the receipt of royalty from each sales channel to the time of quarterly royalty payment. Funds will be held in a savings account separate from the operating fund in order to safeguard individual royalties.
- will provide monthly sales reports for each channel by the end of each month.
- will provide quarterly payments via Paypal or Check (United States only) according to the following schedule – January 31, April 30, July 31, October 31. Payment will be made when total royalty due to author/publisher is greater than USD $20.
- will collect 12% commission on net royalties received in order to cover royalty administration costs.
- from time to time may make changes to these Terms & Conditions to obtain greater clarity or for legal or administrative reasons without prior notice.
